FAQ
  • How to send SMS with my iPad or iPod Touch?
If you have a iPad or iPod Touch you must have iOS5 or above to support SMS (iMessage). Then all functions in Alive Text will work on your iPad/iPod Touch as if you had the Alive Text installed on an iPhone. You don’t even have to upgrade to a newer version of Alive Text, it is READY TODAY. We made Alive Text ready for iPad SMS (iMessage) support one year before Apple added iMessage to iOS 5. We had it already ready in Alive Text version 2.8.7 approved in Nov. 10th 2010!!
    How?
We checked if Alive Text could can access the url sms://, if True - show the SMS buttons and load the internal SMS App. So when iMessage came available on the iPad a year later Alive Text was already ready ;-)
  • The contact codes, ex. (xcf), does not work for groups?
Sorry, it´s not possible to loop through your group members in the background and send Text/SMS/Email messages without You pressing the Send button. If Apple in a future version of iOS will support it, we can create personal group messages as well.
  • How to restart Alive Text?
Double click the home button to see the multitasking list, find the Alive Text icon and remove it.
  • I would like to send the same template message to several people (multiple recipients/send to Groups), how can I do that?
Upgrade to iOS 4.n and Alive Text v.2.8.n with support for Group SMS and Group Email setup in the Favorites Tab

If you would like to add more recipients after you have pressed the SMS button:
Tap on the top/first row where you have the name of your favorite/contact or tap on the name itself, you should now see a blue + button coming up at the right side, press the + button and add more recipients/contacts! Add as many as you like to receive your message template.

If you would like to add more recipients after you have pressed the Email button:
Tap on the top/first row where you have the name of your favorite/contact or tap on the name itself, you should now see a blue + button coming up at the right side, press the + button and add more recipients/contacts! Add as many as you like to receive your message template.

  • I have changed the Settings, but my change does not show up, it's the same?
On iOS 4 with support for multitasking you have to manually restart Alive Text for the Settings options to be visible in the App.
Double tap the home button to see the multitasking list, find the Alive Text icon. Hold down the finger tip on top of the icon until the icons vibrate, then press the red minus button on the Alive Text icon and then start Alive Text. The Settings changes are know activated.
  • I don´t have Photos on some or all of my contacts yet, will the Cover Flow interface still work?
Yes, if photos are missing we use a default photo and print your contacts name on the photos, it works fine!
  • When adding a Favorite, some only shows me a list of telephone numbers? How to add them as well?
You must select one of them by pushing your finger tip on the phone number in the list (Tap on the phone number to be selected).
  • How to add or change a photo?
Tap the Edit button in the detail view of either favorites or messages, then you will see the current picture turn darker or a new larger black/white photo will show up. Then Tap directly on the photo and the modify options will be presented for you.
Try even to Tap on the photo when not in edit mode.
  • How to Paste?
You have to double tap or hold down your fingertip in the text field to display the magnified view and then when your finger is lifted, the Paste option becomes available for you. Select Paste and the text is placed into the field.
  • What is the priority of mapping codes, can I override ex. (xcf) with my own code?
YES, your own codes are mapped first, so you are able to create your own versions of our internal codes, ex your Code xMyLanguageFirstnameCode could be mapped correctly if you map your code to the Text (xcf) in My codes. Be aware that users receiving your shared templates don´t have the same codes, so don´t replace our internal codes if you will like to share message templates with your friends and colleagues.
  • Can Alive Text be used on my iPad or iPod touch?
Yes, Alive Text works fine for all of you with a iPad or iPad touch.

  • Internally we have this cool Adjective story game going on.
Create a short Message where you use text codes , ex. (xadv1), (xadv2) etc. for 5 adjectives in your story. Then all of you must go to My codes and create the matching Codes you have used with a self-made Adjective as Text output. Then Share the template Message around by email or SMS to your friends to view and read the Message in Preview.
